Victor Gugushev comments on the introduction of the Euro for TVR Info / 20.11.2025 г.
On November 19, Atty. Victor Gugushev commented on the upcoming transition of Bulgaria to the euro from January 2026 in an interview for the Romanian national television channel TVR Info.
The news channel outlined the challenges Bulgarians face during the transition period. According to their data, entrepreneurs expect significant savings once they no longer need to pay fees for exchanging leva into euros. Therefore, the adoption of the single European currency is viewed mostly positive within business circles. On the other hand, many citizens fear that the change will lead to price increases. Further, elderly residents of small settlements often fall victim to fraudsters who offer currency exchange services at supposedly better rates and steal their savings.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Bulgaria–Romania Chamber of Commerce, Atty. Victor Gugushev commented that the euro is one of the strongest currencies in the world and will contribute to business development. He also suggested that the transition may lead to demands for higher salaries.
