Gugushev & Partners Law Office provided comprehensive legal support to one of China’s largest manufacturers of photovoltaic components in connection with its portfolio of projects in Bulgaria, comprising four solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 90 MW. The firm’s engagement covered key legal matters relating to the acquisition, financing, construction and operation of the projects, as well as the day-to-day activities of the group’s Bulgarian entities.

The firm advised the client and its Bulgarian subsidiaries on the structuring of the transactions for the acquisition of the projects, environmental requirements and regulatory compliance, as well as project financing in the amount of EUR 98 million provided by the China Development Bank. The legal support also covered the ongoing operation of the power plants and the related regulatory and contractual matters.

As part of its comprehensive legal support, the team also advised on insurance matters arising from multiple insured events. The firm assisted the client in its communications and negotiations with insurers, including the preparation and submission of the required documentation, the registration of insured events and the collection of documentation required for the payment of insurance claims.

Gugushev & Partners also represented the client in administrative proceedings concerning the issuance, challenge and enforcement of administrative acts in the energy sector issued by the competent state authorities.

In addition to the projects in Bulgaria, the law office advised the client on international renewable energy projects in Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing legal support on key matters relating to the acquisition of the projects.
